Prepare the Plants by Pressure (Simplified Decoction)

This decoction method is appropriate for whole plants and for coarse-grinded plants.

It is not recommended to use it for the preparation of fine-grinded plants.

This method requires a stainless steel pressure cooker.

You have received your prescription packaged in a few larger bags than those intended for a decoction in a normal pan.

This is normal because these packages contain the necessary plants for a few days of treatment, unlike the small dosage sachets for the normal pan, which only contain a daily dose.

- Empty the large bag into the pressure cooker, add about 12 cups (3 liters) of water and let the plants rest overnight or at least 1 hour before starting the decoction.

- In the morning, add a little water if necessary, close the pressure cooker and put it on high heat until it is under pressure. Then lower the heat and let the plants boil for about 20 minutes.

- Let the pressure drop by putting the pressure cooker under cold water and filter the plants.

- The liquid obtained corresponds to 12 doses or a 6-day treatment with 2 doses per day.

If the treatment lasts less than 6 days, reduce the initial amount of water.

Keep the decoction in the refrigerator in a glass bottle or in 12 small containers.

Warm up the dose before drinking.

In most cases, the decoction should be taken warm and away from meals (at least 1h30 before or after the meal). However, in some cases it can be taken just before or just after the meal and, in other cases, the diluted powder may be cold. Ask your therapist for advice.
