The concentrated powder (CP) is more and more often used, because it has the advantage of having a very easy and fast preparation. This type of conditioning is the result of a concentration of the plant’s decoction at a variable rate of 1/3 up to 1/10, depending on the suppliers. Thus 5g of dry plant can be concentrated in 1g of concentrated powder.
You have just received a bag of concentrated powder of medicinal substances and a dosing spoon of 0.05 oz (1.5g).
- After shaking the bag, take the number of 0.05 oz doses recommended by your therapist and pour them into a cup.
- Boil some water and pour it into the cup.
- Stir for about ten seconds so that the powder can be solved.
- Drink the lukewarm preparation away from meals and as recommended by your therapist.
The concentrated powder can also be swallowed directly, without dissolving it in water. However, this way of intake doesn’t allow as good absorption of the active ingredients as the intake after dilution in hot water.
When a child refuses to drink the concentrated powder diluted in hot water, some parents try to pour the daily dose in a fruit jam to mask the taste. If this is the case with your child, be sure to always ask your therapist for advice before taking any initiative on how to administer the CP to your child.
In most cases, the concentrated powder should be taken warm and away from meals (at least 1h30 before or after the meal). However, in some cases, it can be taken just before or just after the meal and, in other cases, the diluted powder may be taken cold. Ask your therapist for advice.
Be sure to always close the bag of the concentrated powder and store it in a dry place: moisture affects the quality of the concentrated powder.
